When Weekly Sessions Aren't Enough Structure

Some children benefit from more consistent, structured support than weekly therapy sessions alone can offer. This is especially true when the goal is preparing for school participation, which is where the Immersive Development Program, or IDP, comes in.

IDP combines school-readiness activities with therapeutic intervention in a structured daily format, designed for children who need more routine and repetition to build and generalise skills.

What Parents May Notice

You may notice that your child:

  • Isn't yet managing classroom expectations like sitting, attention or following routines

  • Struggles with transitions between activities in a structured day

  • Needs more repetition and consistency than weekly sessions provide

  • Finds it hard to participate in group learning or peer activities

  • Isn't ready for a mainstream classroom environment yet

  • Would benefit from daily, structured practice rather than occasional sessions

How We Can Help

Immersive Development Program

IDP is typically structured as a 3-hour daily program. It combines roughly 1.5 hours of school-readiness and developmental activities with 1.5 hours of therapeutic intervention, five days a week. This structure and consistency is built specifically for children who need more than once- or twice-weekly sessions to build and generalise school-readiness skills.

The program covers age groups 2 to 4 years and 5 to 8 years. Goals and activities are set for each age band rather than a single fixed curriculum.

Parent Guidance

Therapists guide parents on what to continue at home, with observations shared regularly given the intensity of the program. Once a goal is close to mastered, generic, play-based home strategies are shared to support generalisation beyond the program day.

Separate parent-interaction sessions are arranged by the Clinical Manager or Clinical Director, and parents can reach out with concerns at any point.

Progress Looks Different for Every Child

There's no single timeline for school readiness to develop, even within a structured daily program.

Progress depends on consistency of attendance, how much practice continues at home, how closely the family follows the plan and your child's individual pace. We share observations regularly, along with a formal progress report every three months.

The goal of IDP isn't to complete a set curriculum. It's to prepare your child, at their own pace, to participate more confidently in a classroom and group environment.
